Why so serious?
Sasha Pivovarova is finally ‘available’ after her three year Prada contract, and now she is getting more and more coveted by the industry, fronting five campaigns this season. One thing I noticed, she is really rocking her famous stare in most of them.

It is really good to see her doing so well post-Prada. The first year coming out of a long term exclusive contract is always important for any models. Natalia Vodianova did well post-Calvin Klein, logging Louis Vuitton and now Guerlain. Same with, Toni Garrn… well you know what is happening to that girl now. These days, no matter what, a contract with either Prada and Calvin Klein is still the one big ticket that can compel anyone to No.1 model stardom.
All eyes are on the current under-Prada-contract Ymre Stiekema, she didn’t really cause a stir at first, but she was quite impressive in last week’s couture shows— second in line at Dior and closed Valentino.
It’s hard to compare her to Sasha but time will tell whether a conventional beauty can still produce the same impact.

time will tell if ymre will ever be as big as sasha since we have to be realistic: the credit crunch has affected the fashion industry too. i don’t mind being released of model-mania to speak frankly. ymre has a very mediocre look and looks far more older than her 16 or 17 years of age?
sasha’s look and life is far more interesting.
It’s interesting that Prada &Calvin Klein (and Ralph Lauren) all require exclusivity for their models. I guess they don’t want the audience to mistaken the model in other ads for theirs.
