Vintage Vogues are nice to look at, that’s where you get to see how models looked like last time. Especially in this picture, all the old school models were looking ultra glamourous in the sexy golden dresses by the late Gianni Versace, whose show was always supermodel packed, like even until now in the Donatella era.
I can’t recognize almost half of them but I can spot the then cute little Kate, Naomi, Carla, Christy, Linda, Claudia, Amber and Helena… the ones who are still working and getting campaigns up till today. Speaking of which, Christy Turlington will be in the upcoming Yves Saint Laurent Fall 09′ campaign, shot by Inez & Vinoodh.

Back then, not that long before the internet appeared or we could see Fashion TV, we loved every glimpse we were able to catch of fashion shows since there were not really many fashows shows or items on tv. Let alone fashion programmes! And we were very busy with work and social life to have all the time to study the magazines.
But this I remember so well, cute little Kate, that’s how we called her too! Am I blind or do I miss Cindy and Karen?
It’s wonderful a lot off these models does still work because their admirers has grown older too. I would love to see these women all back on the catwalks.
I do feel so stupid now that I’ve got rid off all my old fashion magazines. I also collected film and music magazines and one day that huge pile off paper worked on my nerves…..
I see Eve Salvail (spelling?), Shalom, Tricia Helfer, Yasmeen Ghauri, Nadja auerman. The only two I don’t know are the far left in the back row and the one between Carla and Christy
Now you’ve said it, I am seeing Shalom, Tricia and Nadja too…
I love how ‘sunshine’ they look. it’s really some good old times when models are really healthy and beautiful— real women. I watched vintage Versace shows before too, and I love how models do twirls on the catwalk, smile and photographers can sit on the runways to shoot pictures.
great post
The by Nadja is Emma Sjoberg from Sweden
she was in Too Funky Video by George Michael 1992
Last row, from right to left:

Opps! That’s Claudia Schiffer next to Linda, NOT Paulina Porizkova.

Eve Salvail before she was bald with her dragon tattoo on her shaved head. Something which is not possible on today’s catwalks. (Or it must be Alice Dellal??) A model with a personality. She was, not really surprising, a favourite of Jean Paul Gaultier. She’s quit model work and is a DJ now I believe…..not really sure. I liked her very much back then.
that’s Olga Pantushenkova, between Carla and Christy, not Lucie!

Sophie on the surface yes they look better, but I’m pretty sure some of them have admitted to ed’s and drug use(kate and naomi…)…but love the dresses. I wonder if Miuccia saw this ad and got inspired because it reminds of lot of last season’s Prada collection, and this reminds i watched “Unzipped” this past weekend, the Issac Mizrahi doc., and Kate just stares at the camera lol when its filming her.
