Earthbound

June 6, 2009

Some houses used backstage photos or runway images as the ad campaign to cut down costs, and now Hussein Chalayan had jumped on the bandwagon. Amy Troost had photographed his Fall 09′ campaign, in what looks like backstage photos of the show. But to make the campaign unique, he added in sketches and inspirations of the collection, which is mainly focused on earthy textures— soil, wood and concrete. I particularly like the messy sketches juxtaposing with the model’s composed faces. Iekeliene’s shot is my favourite.

Great use of runway images as add campaigns. The sketches and grayscale are definitely interesting twists to such a concept.
