Mixte tribute

May 1, 2009

The economy is really taking a toll in the publishing sector. While many other smaller magazines turned to downsizing or churn out bi-annual issues, MIXTE will be ceasing production. The coming June issue will be their last.

Incredibly sad news, Mixte is like the Dazed & Confused of France, indie and featured a lot of talented but underrated photographers/stylists but models and celebs are very high fashion-y.

In total they had 60 over issues, with a long history in French magazine publishing, Emanuelle Alt once worked for them. Last year there were many two-monthly issues (July/August, Dec/Jan), should have known by then what’s coming up…

Mixte covers from my archives, can’t locate covers beyond #35. Anyway, enjoy:

This is really sad news! I love Mixte for its fun covers and original editorials, it’s a magazine that defies the prim and proper norms of high fashion. I will certainly miss it too!
