You only need Meisel to get you speechless

September 19, 2008

Natural High
US Vogue Oct 08′
Photographed by Steven Meisel

For as much as I love the cover of Raquel Weisz in Rodarte, I think this is one of the most ambitious editorial I have seen from US Vogue for quite a while. It is definitely not easy to get shots like this, and all those fur, PETA must be planning something right this second.

So is it a yes or no from you? At first glance it does look a bit like a joke, models in high heels and colourful makeup, draped with fur, should be walking at somewhere high profile, think Paris at night. But rock-climbing looking like that just reminds me of this:

But if Meisel is trying to mix concepts together (something in which he is very good at) then why not start picturing the looks in real life sans the background… you hardly get to see editorials like this in US Vogue.

I was quite suprised to see such a great editorial in Vogue US, even if seeing so much fur left me «perplexe», As for the cover i love it too.

No to the fur! I love the bears…..beautiful! Looking at them makes me sick thinking that people wants to wear their skin……

Is Meisel referring to the current economy perhaps? Tho I guess the people who can afford this coats doesn’t have to suffer in any way?
