Fall 08′ ad campaigns part II

July 31, 2008

Longchamp ft. Kate Moss, Gaspard Ulliel
I love how they managed to pull a different look each season. This time, it is a rare classic black and white theme, gorgeous.

Louis Vuitton ft. Eva Herzigova

Marc Jacobs ft. Stella Tennant, Kirsten Owen
Surprised that even Marc is asking for the 90s supers to front his campaign but this is much better than the Victoria Beckham ones.

Photobucket
Missoni ft. Iselin Steiro, kinga Rajzak
Another stunner by Meisel. The concept inspiration of this campaign actually comes from a Bernardo Bertolucci film called ‘The Conformist’ because ”the movie’s visual patterns and textures fits well with the Missoni aesthetic”.

Photobucket
Miu Miu ft.Vanessa Paradis
I am glad to see that they didn’t make her wear those hideous hats (?) from the runway, but the name initials remain. Either way, this can’t be compared to last season’s amazing campaign with Kristen Dunst, that was one of the best celebrity ad I have ever seen in a while.

Photobucket
Nina Ricci ft. Natasha Poly
Can you say, wow? The effect and movement are simply beautiful, and it is good to see a Nina Ricci campaign that is less gothic but more romantic.

Photobucket
Oscar de la Renta ft. Anja Rubik, Magdalena Fracowiak
Oscar was turned down three times by the Salk Institute for Biological Studies to use the location for the campaign. But after a donation and some help from a long time client, he got a ‘yes’!

Prada
ft. Linda Evangelista
We shall see whether Sasha will go back to her Prada throne for SS09. Miuccia needs her to sell.

Photobucket
Pringle of Scotland ft. Sasha Pivovarova
Post-Prada and amidst all those weight gain rumours, Sasha is looking good and still has two campaigns under her belt, this, and Tiffanys.

Photobucket
Roberto Cavalli ft. Isabeli Fontana, Frankie Rayder, Raquel Zimmernmann, Angela Lindvall
If the styling and setting looks a little familiar to you, the concept is actually inspired by a film called Il Gattopardo (“The Leopard) by Luchino Visconti. Looks like movies are becoming a lot more influential to fashion now.

Salvatore Ferragamo ft. Claudia Schiffer

Valentino ft. Isabeli Fontana, Angela Lindvall

Photobucket
Vera Wang ft. Stella Tennant
Stella Tennant must have been one of the older models to have ever grace a Vera Wang campaign.

Photobucket
Versace ft. Isabeli Fontana, Natalia Vodianova
I find this pairing a little weird, Natalia is not really va-va-voom enough for Versace. In fact, the last good Versace campaign is probably SS07, with Kate, Carmen and Carolyn.

Yves Saint Laurent ft. Naomi Campbell

About Roberto Cavalli and the comparison with the late fim director Luchino Visconti “Il Gattopardo” no the setting doesn’t look familiar at all to me…..Through his films I learnt the love for beauty but even more to embrace the beauty disrepair…..That’s not really something that match with this days….Anyway, this is a film made in 1963 (though I saw this film much later in life in a art-filmhouse). The master himself died in 1976 so its not that strange you’ve never heard of him or this film. I wonder if you have time left to read the film is made after the book by Giuseppe Tomasi Di Lampedusa. Who?
I’m pleased though Cavalli brings a mulit-talented man as Luchino Visconti was to the attention of a new generation but where’s the master to see Roberto? Where’s the influence of “Il Gattopardo?”

Ferragamo’s ad looks like a photo made in the famous NY “Studio 54” days! All that retro. Like the supers. Not that I mind. Even Vanessa Paradis is in fact of retro too though I like her a lot. As a singer…

Apologises, my former posting is a very bad written piece….
For those who want to know by whom Cavalli was ‘inspired’ google for the info. There’s enough to find.
I don’t see nothing in this ad that reminds me on Visconti and/or his masterpiece “Il Gattopardo”. I’m so sensitive in my admiration, whom for Luchino Visconti that I almost find this Cavalli ‘inspiration’ blasphemous’!!

LOVE LOVE LOVE the Miu Miu Bag!!

The Longchamp limited edition bags look quite like Prada’s fairy bag from last season. Even the shape and materials are similar.

I saw the entire 60 piece collection and they are more expensive than the Prada fairy bag.

I’m curious, how many times has Eva Herzigova been on LV? This is her second consecutive year. But she was in LV ads at least another two times before that.

I’m in love with those OdlR dresses.

Stella Tennant & Kirsten Owen for Marc Jacobs is to FAb. I love that many of the supers are coming out of retirement. I also love that a few of the early Brazilains like Isabeli Fontana, are still hanging in there. Stella wasn’t exactly a super but she was a top model and she became the anti Cindy Crawford. She followed in the footsteps of Christen McMenamie(tp). Stella paved the way for Erin O’Connor(her cousin)and Anouk Lepree.
