Dior Fall’08: what went wrong
1. The makeup
To tone down on the makeup is like a crime because Galliano is always big on drama and flamboyance. But I think it’s time to let go a bit and try a more subtle look.

2. The gowns
These are really unflattering. Maybe the preggers celebs would wear it… and haven’t we seen all these jewels/embellishments on satin fabrics look many many times before?
The white one on the right totally reminds me of Viktor & Rolf Spring/Summer 08.
3. The direction
Some of the pieces remind me of the latest Spring/Summer 08 Haute Couture and the cruise collection. Even the theme and the styling seem similar— he is always going for the 60s’.
On the other hand, all the pieces are very suited for editorials indeed, like the cowprint jacket and bold coloured coats… Do expect loads of Dior splashed acrossed the year-end fash mag covers.

Rock The Trend 
Since he lost his craetive partner Galliano seems kinda wayward.This collection seemed ‘too much’ and yet ‘not enough’.Mrs.Robinson did not want to lunch with Diana Vreeland.The Valley of The Dolls gone trash.Wake up John!

I`m not liking Balenciaga much either (style.it), looks so familiar. Except for the shiny coats. Jil Sander was good, I even liked the shoes that Sarah Mower didn`t: organic angles like tree branches.
from the pictures on this site, i’m not impressed. i always thought that john galliano’s own line is so much better than his stuff for dior.

If these designers and models are so concerned about the homeless,they would not be mocking them by creating and wearing clothing lines that cost twice the national debt. It’s like they’re saying: “Hey, I’m one of you, but I am loaded and can wear the designer version….and you are not.” There’s nothing chic about mocking the poor.
Have any of these designers with a so-called passion for the homeless started food banks, soup kitchens, new affordable housing, paid off bills for those struggling, given impoverished teens scholarships? No. They just “call attention” to a problem we all know already
exists. It’s like watching CSPANN Senators rehash the fact that there a mortgage crisis in painstaking detail when thousands are losing their homes daily. Who needs them to “call attention” to the obvious?
We don’t need a fashion designer to point out what is obvious; if they don’t want to help become part of the solution, they should just stick to their craft. The amount of stuff unsold at the end of each season shows that they have enough difficulty doing just that…
It’s a disgusting trend that fashion designers feel it’s their right to “see homeless in the park” and then create a whole line of clothes that makes us all homeless, so we can supposedly “identify with them.” Those of us that have identified with them are helping them. Galliano, why don’t you try to do the same?
The same goes triple for the Abu Ghraib “collection.” It’s as if Galliano thinks he’s the only one who is aware of the event; he has to educate us all. What an ego this man has!
The Fall 2008 collection reminds me of Halloween Costumes….at best.
I lived through the the 60’s and this isn’t it.
