And when you thought that no one slams Vogue…

October 4, 2007

There is a really big problem going on with Australian Vogue.

Month after month, they unapologetically rip covers and editorials off from other magazines and use it as theirs! They are not giving justice to the iconic, legendary five letter word they represent. It’s like how frustrated people feel when US Vogue keep using celebrities on their covers.

I hate the fact that they ‘uglified’ the whole original cover by using GREEN (who will think that green goes with maroon and violet?!) words and a trashy title like ‘Let’s Dress Up!‘. The Louis Vuitton dress that model Jessica Stam wore is so artistic and they make it sound like some halloween party get-up.

Worse, they reuse other magazine’s work one month right after the original is published.
I hope to see more direction and creativity from the Australian Vogue team.

How interesting! I didn’t realize they do that.

Maybe the Australian team doesn’t have the budget to shoot an original cover. It would be interesting to see if the editorials inside Australian Vogue are off of other editions too!!

Well, Japanese Vogue does pretty good covers… If I were them, I´d deny their use from Australia. And if I were Australia, I´d steal them always.

This is interesting. How is this happening? Magazines usually have a lead time of three months, so if Japanese Vogue hit stands in October that means that in June they were finishing it up. Does that mean that the editorial team for Vogue Australia is just waiting to start their publishing cycle right after their sister mags complete theirs?

    So sad.

hi i’m australian and i NEVER buy australian vogue for this very reason. yes, their fashion editorials and other stories and features are all LIFTED from international vogues. i know because i subscribe to the american and british versions, and i can also tell from webs like yours! it really is a paltry excuse for a vogue; pathetic.
