Haute Couture– Chanel, Lacroix, Givenchy

July 4, 2007

I’ve found a video of the Christian Dior couture show. Gosh, I can feel the atmosphere there in the Versailles. Gisele was so funny, being the earliest to finish the catwalk, she ended up sitting on the bench for the longest time and still have to look pretty in all those clothes & makeup.  While a model was posing for photos, she was cooling herself down with a fan and talking to Naomi at the back… you’ve got to check it out!

Chanel
I love the fact that Chanel’s couture line is very wearable. It is definitely less drama, very classy and still, the grand-old ‘timelessly chic’ style that spells C-h-a-n-e-l. Karl’s latest creation includes chiffons, leather boots, loads of feathers and of course, exquisite embroideries.

That white coat is so lovely. Can you imagine how fabulous you’re going to look, walking down the streets in some of these designs?

gowns that I like— form-fitting with a loose edge plus loads of details

Christian Lacroix
Very unexpectedly, this collection is very original and inspiring. The Lacroix princess has definitely gone edgy and more mature. Think dark tones, tiered skirts heavily embellished with lace & beading and Russian-style folkloric multicoloured patch suits. Has been reportedly credited as the best from Lacroix so far. Check out the show’s video here.

Pearls, lace, ribbons… couture is all about details

the styling– love how they put a big hat at the side, and the dark eye makeups plus pale skin… gothic?

the shoes…

the same finale as last seasons. Apparently, Lily Cole is his muse. The only difference, the ‘bride’ has gone edgier as I’ve just said.

Givenchy
While Lacroix has gone to the ‘dark side’, Ricardo Tisci toned down this couture collection with pale shades, loaded with fine tailoring and towards the end, a slightly futurstic look.

I was quite surprise to see leopard prints in a Givenchy show. The three looks above basically sums up the whole show.

What’s up for tomorrow? Jean Paul Gaultier, Armani, Elie Saab…

The chanel is completely perfect, and each season it gets better… I think the Chanel clothes are the most wearable clothes of the others labels.

Christian Lacroix collection to me it was very heavy, you know.

I totally agree with you about the Chanel collection being wearable. I dig those boots–if only I were tall enough to pull ’em off! Sigh. I love that rust color ensemble on the right. I’m thinking that’s the new “it” color since it also showed up at the Chanel resort show.
