Updates

July 13, 2008 · 4 Comments

  • For Singaporeans right here who are interested in getting the July Vogue Italia, it will only be out in mid-August at Kinokuniya. Yes, this is what happens when you live on the other side of the world. If you know where can I get it earlier (not via online), let me know.
  • I have completed my second capsule collection and the photoshoot is due this week. I am aiming for a 1st August launch.
    Stay tuned.

Ali still getting the love

July 13, 2008 · 2 Comments

After her weight gain controversy and appearance on the Today’s show, many could have wondered where will her career go. Well, she nabbed three campaigns this season.

This is her second consecutive campaign for the sportswear line of MaxMara.

Actually, they should just stop photoshopping her too much if the brands have intended to support her image. In the Lanvin fragrance ad, I could hardly recognize her.

I am waiting to see how will she fare in the upcoming show season, maybe she will walk a lot of shows afterall.

Who’s switching to Paris?

Funding from: winning the ANDAM Fashion Award, worth 150,000 Euros.

As if London fashion week has not been neglected enough, Gareth Pugh has decided to show at Paris for his upcoming Spring/Summer 09′ collection.
“Showing at London Fashion Week has been amazing and my thanks go out to everyone who has supported me. Now, to be able to enjoy the international platform of Paris will propel my business even further.”
Now there are more reasons for the fashion group to skip the capital and head straight to Milan after New York. Hang in there, Christopher Kane.

Funding from: winning the Australian Merino Woolmark Prize, worth 100,000 euros.

He had a show at the Singapore Fashion Festival a few months earlier and man, I was awed by his genius concept (watch it here). Hopefully the relocation will give him more chances to shine, I would love to see a Chinese designer making it big in the City of Light.

In a few words: FIERCE, without trying too hard.

P.S. Sessilee is also the one who rocked Christian Siriano’s final look from Project Runway Season 4. Remember that?

Vogue Italia all black issue— the editorials

July 8, 2008 · 9 Comments

Which is your favourite?

Mine is Sessilee’s. Her poses are great, she should be featured in more high fashion editorials in future. But I hate the fact that it is in black and white— her face is kinda pale, she doesn’t look like a black.

Aussie invasion

July 7, 2008 · 1 Comment

Just a few years ago, the only hits from down under were Gemma Ward and Nicole Trunfio. But right now there are Catherine McNeil, Abbey Lee, Alice Burdeu and Skye Stracke… all making their rounds at the international modelling circuit and even rocking couture. So are Aussies the next big thing?

Check out the latest additions:

Sarah Stephens
I know I got to give her a mention after she appeared on the cover of Russh. The bangs give her such an interesting persona— very edgy and Brit-chic (she is in fact, born in England). But Sarah reminds me of Georgia Frost, the stunner with the same amazing angular talent who went from fronting Dolce & Gabbana to… nothing.

Her breakthrough is probably walking Prada resort 09′, giving her best shot at the ‘blank look’. I am seeing some versatility in this face.

P.S McNeil, Abbey and Sarah are all under NEXT. Now we know where their talent scouts go…
