What do you think?
After browsing through the images, I can’t really tell his inspiration (60s’ again?). It is a little messy— the styling is Fall 07′, the setting is ocean/underwater and the hats are…?
John is good at rock & roll (think Fall 05′, 06′), then why hasn’t he churn out a collection that has a darker tone? I would like to see him doing something fierce and edgy again.
Casting wise, I am so glad to see Sasha back on the runway after doing only two shows during the Fall 08′ season. How I miss that killer glare…

The big name celeb guests at the frontrow: Jennifer Lopez, Christina Aguilera and the ever Dior loyal— Charlize Theron.

judging by the high-waisted white trousers/blouse emsemble, it looks a bit 70’s inspired, although the floral coat next to it looks more 60’s.
personally, i’ve always preferred john galliano’s stuff for his own label. this looks a bit jumbled.
sasha looks fierce though.

Vogue reported it to be a collection that was trying to be more commercial. And you can’t blame a guy for trying to have more retail sales. Besides, it is a resort collection. Won’t that have some effect on the final product?
And this reminds me of his last resort collection. And as far as inspiration, I think Vogue also had it right in saying he dipped into Americana. And I see it too. It reminds me of Normal Rockwell if he were more theatrical, and from the looks of this collection, also a tad Mexican.

The inspiration is obviously Mexico… the typical Mexican costume for women is just that… only less bright but still colorful. That explains the hats also.

That also explains the mariachi style jacket in picture #5…
