Stars in Balmain
May 29, 2008 · 2 Comments
Christophe Decarnin must be doing something right, or have the house started to pay celebs to wear their dresses to gain more exposure? I am seeing more and more Balmain everywhere, especially that one shoulder dress that Carine Roitfeld favours… but I do like most of the looks. The high slits and the short hemline— seriously glamourous, the parisian way.

Rolling out the first batch
May 29, 2008 · 3 Comments
It’s time! For the latest ad campaigns to start appearing on the pages of the magazines. Can’t wait to get my hands on the July and August issue of Vogue US (always the one with the most ads). On top of my list of the most anticipated— 1. Alexander McQueen 2. Vanessa Paradis for Miu Miu 3. Du Juan for Giorgio Armani. Let the game begin!

(Clockwise from left) Christy Turlington for Escada, Eva Herzigova for Louis Vuitton, Amber Valletta for DSquared2, Isabeli Fontana for Roberto Cavalli and Claudia Schiffer for Chanel.

Raquel can you feel the love?

In Hermes, Numero Tokyo July 08′

In Chanel, Vogue Nippon July 08′

CDFA nominees’ work lookbook, photographed by Mikael Jansson
This veteran needs no other big moment, but imagine seeing 25 different shots of Miss Zimmermann, in both womenswear and menswear , at such huge event (hello fashion Oscars). Amazing I say.
The CDFA award is happening on June 2 at New York Public Library.

Summer is so yesterday
May 28, 2008 · 5 Comments
In case you are getting bored seeing all the colourful Spring/Summer 08′ dresses everywhere, it is time for the new pieces to conquer the magazine pages— see the very first of the Fall 08′ collections in these editorials.
”In Your Dreams”
V #53

Lily Donaldson in one of the Dolce & Gabbana finale gowns. White fur over purple chiffon plus the colours of the ocean and the sky… this shot is simply gorgeous.

Oh those beautiful-beyond-words Alexander McQueen Fall 08′ dresses. All the gold and the embroideries are so glamourous.
”Ca, c’est Paris”
Vogue Paris

Natasha, Sasha, Lily, Doutzen and Catherine all in Prada Fall 08′. Check out the sculpture heels and necklaces… where is the lace?
”Dry Season”
W

Abbey Lee in Marc Jacobs

Elsa Sylvan in a Jil Sander structured collar coat
”Falling Off the Map”
Vogue US

Anna Wintour’s fave Caroline Trentini in Miu Miu Fall 08′. Don’t you think those hard-to-wear-pieces only looks good in sporty editorials? But anyway, Miuccia did mention the collection is meant to ”take sport in a new direction”…

And there she is jumping again… in a Fendi fur coat.

June 08′ magazine covers
May 27, 2008 · 8 Comments

A double cover with French models Noémie Lenoir and Laetitia Casta
Vogue US

Sarah Jessica Parker in Versace. According to reports, she had over a hundred outfit changes in Sex and the City movie, some of them are from the yet-to-be-released Fall 08′ collections. Watch it for the fashion parade.
Vogue UK

This is Agyness Deyn’s second UK Vogue cover. I was quite surprised to see her getting such major cover because apparently photographers like Mario Testino has been losing interest in her as she is ‘too overexposed’. The 25 year-old has been dropped from huge campaigns that made her career— Giorgio Armani and Burberry Prorsum.
Vogue Germany

Claudia Schiffer
Vogue España

Valentina Zelyaeva in Valentino
Vogue Russia

Maryna Linchuk. Love the chunky lego necklace.
Vogue China

Shu Qi in Dolce & Gabbana. This is the third chinese actress in a row to front Chinese Vogue.
Vogue Korea

Caroline Trentini in Ralph Lauren
Vogue India

Preity Zinta in Gucci. I am really glad to see someone with such healthy full figure to front a Vogue cover. At least they didn’t photoshop her body to look like those models’.
Vogue Australia

Doutzen Kroes in Alberta Ferretti. She was in Australia for the L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival.
Muse #13

Coco Rocha, Erin Heatherton
Numero Tokyo

Snejana Onopka in Lanvin. This is the issue with that stunning ‘Subaquatic Beauty’ editorial.
W Korea

Karlie Kloss in her first solo, but not quite major cover.

Holiday break
May 17, 2008 · 6 Comments
I’m flying back to Hong Kong for a two week holiday. As usual, the blog will go on a short hiatus.
And now, I have something to announce:
On 1st June, I am going to launch a mini collection right here at Rock.The.Trend.
It is an eight piece collection with some accessories and shoes. Most of the items are designed and sewed entirely by me.
This project has been extremely exciting on my part, and I can’t wait to finally be able to present my work to you guys.
Well, stay tuned!
xx

The new comers of Fall 08′
May 17, 2008 · 7 Comments
Who do you think will become a hit or a one hit wonder?
Amanda Laine

Caught me eyes… with a face that looks like it has came straight out of a Byzantine painting. Absolutely unique features.
Turning point: Opened Miu Miu and closed Vuitton, probably the biggest star in Paris
++ She is statuesque at 5ft11.5
- - Can do Prada and Balenciaga, but lacks the kind of va-va-voom for Versace or Gucci. In short terms: classy > sexy.
Abbey Lee Kershaw

Caught my eyes… the Olsen twins look-a-like?
Turning point: Nab an exclusive contract with Mario Testino
++ Has a babyface like fellow aussie Gemma Ward that still proves to be popular in the industry
- - Didn’t walk for coveted shows like Prada, Miu Miu, and Balenciaga
Georgina Stojilkovic

Caught me eyes… with her poutier-than-Angelina-Jolie lips
Turning point: Appeared on the cover of Numero #93
++ 63 shows in her first season!
Aline Weber

Caught my eyes… when she opened Balenciaga
Turning point: Has been walking for small shows since Fall 05′, she finally got her breakthrough three years later.
++ Benetton! D&G! M by Missoni! Moschino! Marc Jacobs (rumoured)!
Malin Ones

Caught my eyes… when she walked Calvin Klein
Turning point: Featured in Italian Elle and models.com as an up-and-comer
- - At 23, a little too late to start out.
Anna Gushina

Caught my eyes… she looks like Angela Lindvall
Turning point: Models.com features Gushina as one of “IMG’s Power Generation”
++ a French Vogue editorial!
Kate Somers

Caught my eyes… freckles!
Turning point: A runner-up at Ford Supermodel of the World contest last year, but is apparently doing a lot better than the winner, Hyoni Kang.
- - needs to work her expressions a little more in editorials
