I don’t know if PETA is going to target this but that controversial rat coat from Gareth Pugh’s Spring Summer 08′ collection is being featured in the December issue of W Magazine.

That’s a show of ’supporting new talents’ right? With supermodel Raquel Zimmermann wearing that coat for W mag, Gareth Pugh can’t be more fortunate. But at the end of the day, I still have doubts on whether who would ever wear those furry white rats.

I am not liking this at all! I hate rats and having to see them on a coat freaks me out even more. But I can surely say that PETA will be protesting.

Eck! Most new avant garde designers do stunt dressing to catch people’s attention. This is a perfect example of it.

I have to admit I’m not all that pro-active when it comes to animals and the use of them and/or their fur etc. in fashion. So that’s not exactly the problem I have with this rat coat…

What really bothers me is that Pugh still feels he is obliged to and capable of shocking his audience which I reckon he’s not in either respect. He really does tire me.

    DCB.

Well one thing exiting is that he may be lunching a line for Topshop in February.

    surely those aren’t real rats?!!?!

i really don’t understand how gareth pugh manages to stay in business because who the hell would actually wear any of his clothes, they’re completely unwearable!!

I think the image of Raquel is great! Like she is delusional and distressed, wearing rats to showcase her afflictions. I generally dislike Pugh`s work though , and the runway image is dull.
Still, you do need variety in fashion.

Now that is truly disgusting! It looks like they just poisoned the rats and pinned them together.
